Muscle Gainer -Protein Tracker App Reviews

Almost perfect.

I love this app. I use it every day and find it has really helped me. Only improvements would be a way to track exercises, view carbs faster, and a "snack" catagory in the favorite/custom foods section. Other than that, the app is awesome!

Data base needs lots of help

Theres not much in the data base. Cant find much of anything. Its a great idea to track protein but if u cant find the food u are looking for it does not help. The free apps have so much more than this one. Also this thing is calling for a 1000 cal. more than I eat now and cant adjust it.

I love it

I have never kept a food journal until now. It’s easy because it’s on my phone & I like most people I always have my phone with me. If I could only have 1 app…this is the 1 I’d choose. Thank you to the creators! I only have a few suggestions: - more name brand food items. -ability to add pictures to the food entries Other than that, I love it!

Good for protein

But you cannot easily track calories using quick add. They want you to buy 2 apps to be able to do that. Wasted my money and I wish I could get my money back. I know how to read labels. I dont know why I cant find and app that I can just quickly log my calories AND protein without picking foods and what not. Really annoying.

Good app

Pricey in my opinion but a good app overall. 1. Please add the ability to enter calories in the "quick protien" section and 2. please add a "snack" option on the food selection screen where "meals" etc are so when I have a stick of cheese, popcorn, or a handfull of mixed nuts I dont have to put it in the "meals" or "baked goods" section. Do that and this would be a perfect 5 IMO! :c)

Good app. Needs to update list

So far I like how simple and easy to use. The UI is nice. The foods list needs to be updated to get more nutrition facts of more foods. May write another review after some more usage.

First Timer

Just got it and so far its easy to use and definately needs to be updated. I wieght 112 lbs now so next month Ill tell you guys how Im doin.

Great but I wish theyd add.....

This is a great app. Its worth the 3.99. Its great for tracking protein just like it says. It also keeps track of calories, fat, carbs, sugar, etc in grams. I WISH they would ADD a pie graph that shows the percentage of each type of calorie consumed (example:40% protein, 20% fat, 40% carbs)- then it would be WAY awesome..... So for now only 4 stars!

Great app

I would give it 5 stars if it tracked carbs, gave you a percentage breakdown of your daily consumption of fats, carbs and proteins and allowed adjustments for bulking and cutting. Please update!

Great app

Forget all these cry babys this is the best app Ive downloaded yet and it makes me wanna eat my daily goal of proteins this is the best 3 dollars Ive ever spent I would buy this app if it cost 20 dollars

Missing a couple really imortant features

Its nice and easy to use, I like the UI but I think it would be a much better app if it also tracked carb amounts and listed your protein/fat/carb ratio. Eating protein isnt the the only facet of gaining quality weight or burning fat. Could potentially be a great app but as of now its fairly limited.

Database not great.

This companys other apps have significantly larger databases than Muscle Gain. Seems like an easy fix since they already have the information. App would be worth the money if everything I looked up were there. Even common products were missing; No Musclemilk entry but slim fast is included? Must be a joke. Stay away till they can support their app.

Not bad but needs improvements!

Please add carbs to the tracking system and expand the food database. You should also add the ability to modify the macronutrients ratios.

Similar to lose it but....

Similar to "lose it" (which is a weight loss application... THE BEST ONE). So for this to resemble that app is high praise. But this form of calorie counter needs to be able to calculate how many calories youve burned and not just log what youve eaten otherwise youre starving yourself and not gaining anything. So... This desperately needs to be updated. I refuse to use this application not to put a remotely positive star rating on this application until they add a button that says "log exercise" and you have a long list of exercises you can select from you can input how long youve done the exercise and it will automatically calculate the average metabolisms rate of calorie burn for that physical activity. For that matter, why not go a step or two above calorie counter and allow us to log other things like how long weve slept, sat, or stood. Though these arent extreme physical activities you are always burning calories and personally I want my calorie counter to be as exact as possible. I also like the visual representation of barbs eaten as presented in "lose it" where as this application just shows a percentage rate for how much protein you need to consume for the day. And I like the protein percentage meter I just want a calorie counter as well. Furthermore I want an expansive library of foods. I also want to be able to add my own foods into the system an input the nutritional facts into it. Again, until these needs are satisfied, this application is sub par and I refuse to use it.

Poorly prepared app.

This app has severe limitations. The concept is good and it does have potential. This version should be free and then charge for the updated version when they get all the kinks out. To begin with the food database is limited. The nutrient content for some food items are incorrect. You cannot edit the food items you select to consume. It would be good to know the cholesterol level on a daily basis and even sugar, general nutritional stuff for a good and healthy body builder. I could go on and on. Short cut and unfinished work will always get u bad reviews.

needs a edit button

after i enter what i ate and if i did it incorreclty or on the wrong day you CANT go back and delete it!!!!!!!!! WTF!!!!!!!!! only way it to delete the whole log??????? NEEDS a EDIT BUTTON

Keeps great tab of protein intake

Not as bad as most reviews say, specially since this is the only app that tracks the protein needs of a body builder. It keeps things simple enough for you to keep coming back every day to track your intake. It has a great GUI and its Database is good enough. I usually add in my own supplements and meals anyways. Thank you for developing this nice app!!

Near perfect!!!

This is an amazing app! Only complaint is the food db is a bit inaccurate i think stuff like eggs, turkey bacon etc should be counted in servings, not weight. Only thing i would add is ability to remove foods eaten(for those like me who add what theyre going to eat when they have time), so you can remove if you change your mind. If it had that itd be perfect.

What would make this a 5 star app for me........

I am on the fence as to what to rate this app. I could have given it a 3 but will give the developer the benefit of the doubt and rate a 4. Muscle gainer is good at tracking your daily calorie, protein and fat intake but lacks an easy way to monitor carbohydrates. I often find myself meeting or exceeding my protein and fat intake but fall short in calories so I know I need more carbs, by how much I don’t know. I could calculate it but the app should do that for me just like it does protein and fat. Here is a list of must haves. 1.The overview screen needs to show a category for carbs just like it does for protein and fat. 2.The “select period” menu only has choices for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack and other. It would be great to have additional selections such as AM snack, PM snack or a way to enter time of day for snack. Nice to have: Allow the user to customize the grams of carbs and/or fat intake per day, maybe as a percentage of daily calories. Muscle Gainer already allows this for protein under the profile screen.

Waste of money
